Enterprise knowledge is preserved and propagated by systematic collection of knowledge of individual and storing it in central repository so that it can be shared with various people in the organization. The knowledge could be job discussions, formal training, discussion forums and mentoring. Lessons learned are captured for various projects and used by other project team to avoid the mistakes made or knowledge gained by the earlier project team. All these are part of Knowledge Management Portal.

Knowledge Management System also stores the Domain knowledge of the subject matter expert so that it can be used by the new person. He can read stored knowledge or undergo training. The knowledge management portal is designed as per client's need depending on the knowledge that they are interested in retaining.
